Gunnar's 2nd Birthday - Part 2

Here's the party!  It was a monster theme.  Lots of pinterest projects and a whole day to get ready.  I'm happy, for the most part, about how everything turned out.  Some projects were better than others. It was the first time we had people over to the new house so I was stressed beyond belief.  I got all ambitious and invited people I work with...including my boss.  Everything had to look great.  I think people had a good time.  Gunnar made out like a bandit again this year.

Cheers!

Here are the details:

These looked like bacteria to me

The goodie table.  The stuffed monsters were from Ikea and were a $1!

Monster bubbles.  So easy!

I'm going to try and make a photo number every year.

Both entries were turned into monsters.  The big orange monster is our bookcase covered in fleece.

Not the best picture of the cake, but there were monsters around the food and the frame with his picture was a monster too.

This was a complete pain in the butt to make...

Here's the Photo Booth this year!

And here's the fun!

Like I said, spoiled!

Opening presents is serious business!

First School Pictures

I call daycare school when I talk to Gunnar.  I want him to get excited about going to school. I want him to associate the place with fun and socializing and learning.  Not a prison or work.  I have always liked school and I hope to pass that on to Gunnar.

He had these pictures taken when he was 8 months old at school.  I was so excited for him. Probably more excited than I should have been.  I stood right there and watched the whole thing.  It went very fast.  Gunnar seemed to cooperate with the photographer and she said he was the easiest baby.  I was hesitant to think she got anything good.  Then I saw the proofs...which were ready when I picked him up.

O.M.G.

I have the cutest baby.

Cheers.

Summer Photo Shoot

When we got our dSLR for Christmas a couple of years ago we had high hopes for learning how to actually use it. We didn't want a glorified point-and-shoot. But it never really happened. During my summer as a stay-at-home dad I had some time to read up about apertures and shutter speeds. I used to know these things when I was a yearbook photographer in high school, but I've long since forgotten everything. So after reading up a bit I thought I'd try it out with a little photo shoot down at the playground. It was actually a pretty sunny day, so there wasn't much I could really do with the settings. That isn't to say I didn't get some great pics. At some point I want to learn how to get blurry backgrounds with the subject in focus.

Six (Five) Month Photoshoot

I got great deal on a Groupon for a photoshoot.  It was expiring at the end of January so I had to use it before Gunnar turned six months (it was supposed to be our Christmas card picture, but I dropped the ball on that...).  Not great timing on my part.  Oh well.  Still counts.  :)

Here's our handsome baby boy being his happy, lovable self.  I dare you not to ooh and ahh over these!

Cheers!

My little Irish boy!

His face here makes me laugh every time
