Gunnar's First Birthday - Part 2

On the eve of Gunnar's second birthday, I realized that I never showed the party from his first birthday!  I was so proud of it.  We worked so hard to make my vision come true.  The theme was " Time Flies" so it was all about airplanes.  Almost all of my projects came out the way I wanted and we had a great group of people to share the day with.  I hope Gunnar looks back on these some day and sees how much he is loved.

Happy Easter!

We had some drama getting up to Easter, but I'm so happy its here!  Gunnar had an Easter egg hunt at school and then we tried to see the Easter Bunny.  That didn't go too well so we didn't get a pic.

On Saturday morning, we went to participate in the Jackson College Easter egg hunt.  It wasn't really a "hunt", more of a "pick-up".  The kids and parents in Gunnar's age group did really well.  Most of the parents we just following their kids around and holding baskets for them.  Gunnar really liked picking the eggs up, opening them, and dropping them to the ground.  He was putting eggs in other people's baskets and tried to take some one's (he didn't have a baskets, just a paper bag they gave us). We had fun and it was free.  We then tried to see the Easter Bunny again.  This time went much better.  I think Gunnar was having so much fun running around outside and the mall that he forgot to be scared by the giant bunny.

On Easter Sunday, we had brunch with my mom where Gunnar had another Easter egg hunt.  But, unfortunately, he was too late to get the goodies in the eggs.  They went to a very resourceful squirrel.  He did get a bunch of chocolate cake so I think it worked itself out.

Gunnar's First Birthday - Part 1

Better late than never...

I can't believe my baby is one year old.  You never know how fast time goes by until you have a child.  They grow so freaking fast it's amazing.  I can't wait to see more of Gunnar's personality develop, but I miss the little bundle that used to just snuggle with me all the time...

I took the day off from work to celebrate Gunnar's birthday on his actual day of birth.  Kevin and I took him to the Toledo Zoo.  None of us had ever been to the Toledo Zoo before and Gunnar had never been to any zoo.  We had nice weather, a bit hot but not too bad.  And the zoo wasn't too crowded because it was during the week.  All the animals were out and about and we got to see a bunch up close.  I think Gunnar really liked looking at all of them.  When we were looking at the hippo, Gunnar blow raspberries on my cheek for the first time.  It was one of those mommy moments you don't forget.  Kevin was able to snap a picture.  It was a great day.  :)

First Haircut

I went back and forth with when to get Gunnar his first haircut.  This past weekend, we pulled the trigger.  When I look at the before and after pic, I can't believe I let him walk around like that!  He looks so grown up now with his big boy hair.  My baby is officially no longer a baby.

Eleven Months

I know, I know.  REALLY late with this one.  But, better late than never, right?

Anyway.  I truly can not believe how time just seemed to fly by with our little cub.  Sometimes I can't remember the little bundle we brought home from the hospital.  That baby was so skinny with long legs.  Gunnar has filled out a lot but he still has those long legs, like his Daddy.  I can't wait to see what's up next.

- Eyes are holding at mostly blue but with a little brown.  They are very pretty, but a manly pretty.

- Loves the swings

- He is so close to walking it's killing us!  He races along the furniture holding on, he just doesn't seem to trust himself enough yet to walk without holding things.  He'll take a couple steps and fall down.

- Loves skinny dipping in his kiddie pool

- Starting to eat more big people food.  We feed him small pieces of what were eating for dinner.

- His flirting is out of control!  He practically gets whiplash whenever a girl walks by.

- Loves going down the slide with Mama

- Likes to "give" things to you

- Points at things he wants

- Making new sounds almost daily, some are pretty funny

- Went under water in swim class!

- Still hates shoes

- Likes to turn the pages in the books if your reading to him

- Learns pretty quickly.  If you show him how to do something once, he will try to do it himself 

- Eight teeth and counting!

- Showed him how to use the light switch.  Now he just stands on his changing table and flips the switch on and off.  It's really cute.

Ten Months

Still playing catch up with these.  Gunnar has become harder to photograph because he rarely sits still these days and I don't have the same set up I had in Florida.  But it will be a complete picture set come hell or high water!

Here are the stats for 10 months:

-Eyes holding at blue/brown

-Three teeth came in at once!  Then two more for a total of 7!

-Says uh oh!

-Climbed all the way up the stairs without stopping

-Walking along the couch while holding on

-First baby cookies!

-Starting to eat more grown-up food

-Mimics sound

-Mastered his basketball hoop

-Learns really quickly by watching you

-A pro at the swings

-And I hear he has a girlfriend at his Tuesday swim lesson.  Which doesn't surprise me because this little guy is the biggest flirt with the ladies I have ever seen!

Nine Months

Still trying to play catch up with the monthly stats.  This move back to MI really threw me off.  I'll have everything back on track this month.  In the mean time, here are the stats for nine!

-Eyes are a smokey blue with brown around the iris.  They are very pretty and I hope they don't change any more.

-Pulling himself up and standing

-Taking small steps when you hold his hands

-Eating "meals" (the puree baby food that has meat and veggies mixed).

-Very good at eating

-Mastered blowing raspberries

-Has climbed up four steps by himself!

-Really comfortable around the dogs now.  Goes up and pets them like he has been doing it forever.

-Has started sleeping on his tummy

-He crawls so fast now!

-Start expressing his opinion when he gets mad or wants something

-Challenges you (throwing things on the floor even though you tell him no.  Looks at you the whole time)

-Started swim class!

-First art fair

-Getting good at the swings

Eight Months

So, I'm really late with this post.  I took the pic when he was eight months, but things have been so busy, I didn't get a chance to post it in April.  Anyway, here he is!

Stats:

- He's CRAWLING!!  No way was he sitting still for a pic!

- Lifts arms up to be picked up

- Very clingy

- We kinda went backwards on our sleeping progress.

- Eats a lot more now and we're having cereal for breakfast and fruits and veggies for lunch and dinner

- First road trip up I-75!

- Moved to his second state

- First time in the RV

- First overnight stay in a hotel

- Said goodbye to daycare

- First picture day at school

- "Talks" all the time now.  Likes the "d" and "g" sounds

- Grabs EVERYTHING within reach

- Got diaper rash for the first time (I think that's pretty good seeing as though he's 8 months old...)

- Loves shoes

- Sits in a highchair now!

Seven Months

Later than usual with an update on our little bear cub, but better late than never!  He keeps us really busy these days.  He's always on the move and interested in EVERYTHING.  Sometimes, I just stare at him in amazement that this wonderful little being is my son.

- Eyes are both blue and brown.  They are very interesting and pretty.

- Weighing in at 19 lbs!

- Everyone says he's the happiest baby.  He smiles all the time at anyone.  Smiling is his favorite.

- Started solids!  So far he likes sweet potatoes, green beans, carrots and peas

- TWO teeth!  They came in together.  Doesn't do anything the easy way, just like his mama.

- Sitting all by himself

- Moves backwards and in a circle like a champ

- Working on crawling and moving forward

- Likes to stand

- Getting better at sleeping through the night.  We've had multiple nights (not in a row) where he's only woken up once before we have to get up

- His bed time is getting later.  Now it's 7pm

- He fights so hard when he's tired and needs a nap

- First St. Patrick's Day and first St. Joseph's Day

- We went to the beach again and this time we were able to play in the water!  Yay!

- Still every one's favorite at daycare

- He hair is getting long, it covers the tops of his ears now.

- He has a lot of personality now

- He's babbling.  He's learned how to say some consonents.  It's pretty much the most adorable sound I've ever heard.

-He loves when you clap

-Finds the tag on everything and chews on it

-He's getting in the crawl position, on his knees, and tries hard to move forward.  Not much longer now until he's mobile...

-He's also pulling himself up to try standing
